how I stay up-to-date on data protection, privacy and tech
Work and Volunteering
- Meetings with the data protection officer at my workplace.
- Volunteering as a Country Reporter for noyb.eu, translating and summarizing court cases.
- Learning about new events and projects in their Country Reporter meetings.
Conferences
(when possible; I don't represent my employer there and they do not send me there, so I have to pay for myself and take days off from work for it)
- Beschäftigtendatenschutztag in Munich (2025)
- Computers, Privacy and Data Protection (CPDP) in Brussels (2026, upcoming)
Newsletter subscriptions
Not everyone has an RSS feed (or it's hard to find), so I settle for a newsletter.
RSS feed
- BfDI
- Stiftung Datenschutz
- Netzpolitik.org
- European Law Blog
- EDRI.org
- Epicenter.works
- Electronic Frontier Foundation
- 404media
- ProPublica
- TheCitizenLab
Magazine subscriptions
Websites
They sadly seem to neither have a newsletter nor RSS, so I check them manually.
People I follow
(usually also manually or via RSS)
- Max Schrems (or also via noyb)
- Hannah Ruschemeier
- Dennis-Kenji Kipker
- Marit Hansen (mostly on conferences)
